Honeymoon Considerations Once you figure out what type of honeymoon you want, narrowing down a location becomes much easier. While considering the type of honeymoon you would like be as true to your individual interests as possible; don't concern yourself with finances and practicality at this point. This is the time to express your deepest desires in how your honeymoon days and nights will be spent. Remember you are planning the honeymoon of your dreams. Imagine yourselves as you step out of the plane, car, train or boat that delivered you to your honeymoon destination. As your feet touch the ground-what is it that you want to experience? Climate. Do you want the weather to be hot for swimming at the beach... or warm for long guided tours of unknown cities... or cooler for day-long hikes in the woods... or cold for optimum skiing conditions? Are you a sun worshipper or do you love the cold? Do extreme temperatures in either direction make you miserable? Tropical vacations are known for their fabulous warm weather. European vacations can go either way: Scotland, for instance, has cool temperatures year-round, while the French Riviera is sunny and warm. If moderate temperatures are more your bag, England is usually not too hot or too cold. The United States offers a wide variety of temperatures depending on the season and the location. Keep in mind the time of year in which your wedding falls. Will you be escaping from warm or cool temperatures? Sights. Do you picture a long stretch of beach, towering mountains, blossoming vineyards or city skyscrapers? Is the dry sand of the desert blowing around or is everything captured under glistening snowcaps? Are there many people walking around (many locals, many tourists) or is it a secluded retreat? If lazy days of lying on the sand and frolicking in the water are your idea of a heavenly honeymoon, a trip to the tropics is the ticket. But if your idea of romance is a whirlwind of amazing restaurants, fantastic museums and visiting incredible historic landmarks, a trip to a large city or exotic country should be considered. Do you see yourself interacting much with others? Would you like to have these activities be organized? Are there vistas and horizons to gaze endlessly upon, or is there an abundance of visual activity and changing scenery? |
