Types of Honeymoon Accomodations

Condos. An oceanfront condo offers easy beach access and exquisite privacy for couples who wish to be left to their own devices. The condos also provide full kitchens allowing you to cook your own meals-including romantic dinners-saving you money on restaurants. Many condos provide maid service, similar to that of a hotel and have swimming pools, tennis courts and putting greens.

Bed and Breakfasts. A bed & breakfast is perfect for twosomes that relish one-of-a-kind ambiance. Your stay will be intimate and homey, since there are just a few guests at a time. Prices are affordable-so this romantic stay won't break the bank. B&Bs are also perfect for those who plan to be outdoors or away from their room accommodations much of the time.

Beach Houses and Private Rentals. These are charming for those that want complete privacy in a beautiful space. The price of beach house rentals is comparable to that of hotels. And, like condos, they provide full kitchen facilities so you are able to cook up your own delicious meals. Another plus is that you won't have to fight any crowds at these digs-you'll have the place all to yourselves!

Vibe or particular feeling. Do you want easy going or high energy? Secluded, casual or formal? Laid back or fast paced? The pace on a tropical vacation can be whatever you want it to be: lazy if you want to lollygag, and go-go-go if you want to hike, parasail, dive and explore. If the idea of taking it easy doesn't appeal, consider checking out areas where the pace of the people is electric and there's so much to see and do you won't want to slow down.

Meals and night life. Are you looking forward to enjoying exotic foods elaborately displayed and available to you at your leisure? Are you testing out your sense of adventure on the local cuisine and dining hot spots? Would you prefer eating fast foods and pizza in exchange for spending your time and money on other items and activities that make your vacation exciting?

Do you want your evenings filled with romantic strolls or festivities that run late into the night? Are you staying in for romantic evenings or re-energizing for another busy day of sight-seeing or other activities? Mode of transportation. Transportation is another concern: by land, by sea or by air? Discuss your options. Do you really want to spend your first couple of days together driving to your destination? Some people find it a romantic notion to drive, staying at a different bed & breakfast each evening.

Are you both comfortable with flying? Fear of flying is certain to put a damper on even the most joyous of trips, but in any event, flying to your destination allows you to get right to it and start enjoying your trip immediately. Or how about a leisurely cruise? You can relax for a few days after all the stressful planning and preparations and prepare yourselves for your final destination.

More Questions to Discuss Before the Honeymoon:

When do you want to go and for how long? First, figure out how many vacation days you have accrued, and how many of them you'll need before the wedding for last minute planning. (It's not uncommon for brides to take a week off, and grooms to take a couple of days.) Do you want to leave the morning after your wedding? Or, do you want to have some time after the wedding to unwind and pack when you'll be more focused on it, and take your honeymoon a few days or even a few weeks later? Another option, for those who don't have a lot of vacation days, is to take a weekend "mini-moon" after the wedding, and then take a long second honeymoon on your first anniversary.

Do you want to get married in the same place where you'll honeymoon? Destination weddings are growing more popular every day. Marrying in a hotel away from home either alone or with a few friends or family members can save a considerable amount of money. Also, when you honeymoon in the same hotel, you won't have to pack after the wedding or run for the airport.

Do you want to go around the corner or around the world? Talk about how long your honeymoon can be and arrive at a general budget. This will determine how far you can go.

Do you want to save or splurge? This is your trip of a lifetime so it's the time to splurge with luxury rooms and memory making activities if you can afford it.

Do you want to learn something new that you can enjoy together? You might like to combine your honeymoon with a golf, ski or sailing school or a tennis camp to learn a sport that you can enjoy together for the rest of your lives.
